Canadian actress Barbie Wilde has appeared in the Bollywood blockbuster, ‘Janbazz’, which also starred Anil Kapoor of ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ fame; robotically mimed with English TV legends Morecambe and Wise; and danced professionally at the top nightclubs of New York City, London and Amsterdam with the dance/mime group, ‘Shock’. However she is probably best known for her role as the Female Cenobite in the classic cult horror movie ‘Hellbound: Hellraiser II’ (1988).
Wilde has worked as an assistant casting director for the BBC TV’s production of ‘The Buddha of Suburbia’ and as a casting director for MTV’s London production of ‘The Real World’.
In 2009, Wilde contributed a well-received short story, entitled ‘Sister Cilice’, to the ‘Hellbound Hearts’ Anthology (Pocket Books). The stories in Hellbound Hearts were based on Clive Barker’s mythology from his novella ‘The Hellbound Heart’, the basis for the ‘Hellraiser’ film franchise. Between 2011 and 2017 Barbie contributed 10 more short stories to different horror and crime anthologies including ‘U for Uranophobia’. Her first novel, ‘The Venus Complex’, a fictionalized diary of a serial killer, was published by Comet Press in late 2012. In early 2018, Wilde joined forces with director, writer and composer Chris Alexander (‘Blood for Irina’, ‘Queen of Blood’, et al) to co-produce and co-write a horror film called ‘Blue Eyes’, based on a short story by Wilde. America’s best-selling horror magazine, Fangoria, said Wilde is “one of the finest purveyors of erotically charged horror fiction around”.
