John Jarratt’s screen debut was in The Great Macarthy (1975) with Barry Humphries, followed by appearances in Peter Weir’s mystery drama Picnic at Hanging Rock in the same year and Summer City with Mel Gibson in 1977. Jarratt had the lead role as Ned Kelly in the mini-series The Last Outlaw in 1979. More recently he has had guest roles in many TV shows including Inspector Morse and Blue Heelers.
In 2005, Jarratt played perhaps his most famous role as evil serial killer Mick Taylor in the Australian film Wolf Creek followed by another Greg McLean film Rogue (2007) about a man eating crocodile! John Jarratt’s list of credits is a long one and includes Bad Behaviour and Needle in 2010, a Tarantino cameo in Django Unchained and Shiver in 2012, Boar alongside HorrorConUK alumni Bill Moseley in 2016 with his autobiography The Bastard from the Bush being released in 2015.
In February 2013, Jarratt reprised his role as Mick Taylor in Wolf Creek 2, with Matt Hearn producing and Greg McLean directing and in May 2016 he again stars as the evil Aussie Mick Taylor in a six-part TV series: Wolf Creek.
