Need Some Help?
Bring lots of cash! Seriously! There is not a cash machine at the venue. Also maybe have a wander around before you spend, that way you will have an idea of what you want to spend your money on! Simples! Not all vendors will accept credit card payments so if you wish to purchase an item from one of the exhibitors on the day we recommend you bring cash with you. If you have a budget, bring that budget with you! The special guest signings take cash only, unless we have specifically advertised a guest as a ticket only signing.
We understand how overwhelming it can be to meet our Special Guests, and whilst we horror lovers all know them very well, they do not know us from Adam! Please be courteous and respectful; please don’t make the Special Guests feel uncomfortable by doing creepy weird stuff like staring at them from a distance! They are human beings not creatures from outer space!
In most cases the Special Guest will charge you for all signings, if in doubt do ask the guest’s assistant.
Oh yes!! If you are new to the convention scene it might take you by surprise, but it is quite normal for this type of event. So if there is a guest you simply have to meet, get in early, or better still attend on the Sunday (usually it’s a quieter day). There will always be lines for the special guests as they are so loved by us all. If there is a busy queue for your chosen guest, you will be given a ticket and asked to return when we are serving those numbers.
Unfortunately not as we don’t have the capacity to arrange this at the moment.
This is set by the special guest or their agent. However, it is usually between £20 – £35. We will release exact pricing closer to the event when photo ops go on sale. HorrorConUK cannot guarantee that you will get a signed photo unless you pre-book. Sunday is usually a quieter day than Saturday (although still busy!) and lines are quicker and easier to get through.
Yes, there will be professional photo opportunities. You will receive a glossy 8×10 of you with the special guest in front of a professional backdrop. However the number is limited and will be offered on a first come first served basis. If you book a photo you must be available to attend 15 minutes before you are scheduled, so if your photo is at 11 be there for 10:45am, the shoots are very tight – if you show up late we cannot guarantee your photo, its a bit like turning up late to the airport for a flight and asking the Steward to “Get the plane to come back”!
Once inside the photo area please get ready for your photo – maybe take off your coat and be ready to place your belongings on the table inside and have your ticket ready to hand to one of our assistants. The line moves quickly once you’re with the guest, you have around 30 seconds! So consider the pose you want taken before you get inside! No kissing or lifting of the guests allowed! Sorry! We use professional photographers so there shouldn’t be any problems with the photos but if something is wrong with your pic you need to let the photographer know ASAP otherwise it may be impossible to rectify afterwards.
Generally photos with special guests are priced at £15 to £35 per person, prices will be posted on the website nearer the time, when photo bookings are being taken. More than one person may have their photo taken with the guest, however the charge will be the same as it is a per person cost with each party receiving one copy of the photo. A child under the age of 10 may accompany a paying adult on a photo but only one copy of the photo will be provided.
These are not guaranteed but the photographer does usually make them available for a fee after the event.
The cost of the photograph with the guest does not include signing. You will be able to get the photo signed at the usual cost when the guest is back at their signing table.
Please respect Special Guests and their wishes, most will oblige with a snap when purchasing an autograph – but if in doubt please do ask them.
Yes you may take photographs. Although flash photography is strictly forbidden during Q & As, talks and films as we do not wish to temporarily blind the special guests or Comperes! If you share your photos or films of HorrorConUK on Facebook, Twitter or any other social media we reserve the right to share those photos and use them on our website.
If you are filming on a mobile phone for your own personal use then that’s OK. However other filming requires HorrorConUK’s express written permission.
By attending HorrorConUK you give your consent for us to use your image in any marketing of our future events. If a photographer asks to take your photo you may of course decline.
No. You are purchasing a photo opportunity with a guest and a photograph only. You may get the photo signed at the usual price when the guest is back at their signing table.
Yes. Without a ticket to HorrorConUK you will not be allowed entry into the venue!
